Fruits
I remember a time when I was a little girl, and I was in my grandmother’s garden. She had everything that could possibly grow in her garden. It was a beautiful, rich garden full of fruits and veggies. She was a hard worker and she enjoyed so much spending her time outside. We, as her grandchildren always got the best from her garden. The first strawberry, apple, peach, plum, red berries, blueberries, grapes, wigs, and the list goes on.
I enjoyed that fruit so much. I could not imagine one spring or summer without it. It was all chemical-free. No pesticides, pure nature.
Living in Serbia in the Balkan gives you tremendous freedom of choice. The fruit was obviously there, growing on its own. Of course, my grandmother was taking care of it, but we somehow didn’t notice.
Later, we started to appreciate her effort.
Yes, 30 years ago nobody talked so much about what could be wrong with fruits or not. We just had it. And plenty of it. The fruit was one of the best things that you could eat during the summer. It is just so delicious, so juicy, it refreshes you.
I can’t imagine summer without watermelon.
And then, suddenly the world started to change. The fruit was suddenly bad for you. The sugar in the fruits destroys your teeth. It is bad for your health. It is bad for diabetics. I could not believe what I heard. What a misconception. Who was responsible for this? And why? And why are all the other commercials recommending other products that are making you sick?
How does something that is so valuable to us suddenly become poison?
Our ancestors lived on it, and we can’t?
Fruit contains so many antioxidants that are beneficial for our bodies. Antioxidants (fighting free radicals) are prolonging our life extension, and they are slowing the aging process. Free radicals are toxins and having them in us means that we are oxidizing. Oxidizing means that we are aging or dying slowly. That also means that we can’t live without them. We need them to sustain our bodies and our organs. They fight inflammation. Antioxidants are natural cleansers and cleaners. They protect our important organs like the liver and heart against free radicals.
In the future, there will be more information on this subject and people will discover more beneficial healing properties in the fruit.
Let’s name some coenzymes:
- Polyphenols
- Anthocyanins
- Anthocyanosides
Don’t fall for the modern diet and information they are trying to spread out and sell to us. Dive into your inner intuition and ask yourself which food is good for us humans. Look at your life carefully and just observe if the food that you introduced into your life was really the food that your body recognizes.
So which fruits are the best for you?
Of course, all the fruits are good for you, but some of them are more beneficial than others.
Some of them kept their original blueprint which resonates with ours.
Wild blueberries are the most powerful fruits on the planet. Wild blueberries are restoring our DNA. That’s why they are a must in our kitchen.
You can buy them fresh, or frozen. And if you have a chance to go somewhere to pick them up, as I did in the mountains of Serbia, like Kopaonik, do it. They grow on Kopaonik in the wild. They grow in rural areas. Our ancestors used to collect these wild fruits every season, and they still had some connection with nature. All the wild fruits including strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, wild black raspberries, and blackberries, are amazing. Because of that our ancestors had better and stronger immunity.
Now, today people think that fruits like apple has too much sugar. It does not matter if that sugar is good for you or not. Fructose in fruits is not bad for you. It is a different kind of sugar. It is not like processed sugar from the store.
My grandmother was healthier than her daughter, but her mother my great-grandmother was healthier than her daughter, my grandmother. That says enough. My great-grandmother was more outside, and she ate also outside. She also lived longer. She died when she was 93, her daughter (my grandmother) died when she was 87, and my mother was 64 when she died. And I was struggling with my life when I was 40. We can’t really compare previous generations with us because we are living in a highly toxic environment. All of them had something that we didn’t have. And that is a good solid foundation.
Eat some fruits like apples. You have them everywhere. And they are all good. We used to be bombarded with the information that one apple is enough for us. That is absolutely not true. One apple is insufficient. One apple doesn’t provide enough vitamins for us. Besides vitamins, it provides glucose that is fuel for our brain and body. It recharges our bodies. It provides healthy water in fruits that cleanse our lymph.
We get used to having 3 meals a day. But snacks in between are extremely important. I just had a conversation with my oldest son. We were talking about the differences between Holland and Sweden. In Sweden, people have 3 meals, and snacks in between. It usually includes fruit. In Holland that is not the case. Over here (where I am temporarily living) people prefer sandwiches for their lunch, and they don’t take time. It needs to be quick. And yes, in Holland people are more stressed. In Sweden, people are more relaxed, and they are healthier. So, there is proof that healthy snacks in between are good for you.
You can eat fruits as much as you want without being afraid of gaining weight. It does not stay long in your body. Fruits stay short in your intestines. It literally goes through you. It gives you what you need, and then it just leaves the body.
Start introducing fruit into your daily life. Start making smoothies, and fruit salads, and combine fruit with your oatmeal. You can start making small steps, just to feel the difference. You don’t have to be afraid if you can’t immediately make a big transformation in your life.
It is about doing it, taking the first step. And eventually, you will love it. You will fall in love with your fruits, with different tastes, and colors. You will start getting creative, and more intuitive.
It is not only about eating bananas once in a while. Bananas are easy to get, and they are easy to chew on. But we need to do better than that.
We owe that to our precious selves.
So, just jump into a new morning, a new day, and start it with fresh beautiful fruits.
And remember, you are not alone!
